Unpackaged - Branding

Mock Branding Project
"UNPACKAGED" - a zero packaging grocery store

"Unpackaged" is a mock rebranding project for a zero-packaging grocery store brand in the United Kingdom. The brand implements and promotes no-waste grocery shopping through a weighing & labelling method. However, I noticed that this wonderful sustainable method of shopping is not being used widely in the UK, compared to say, places like Copenhagen.

I thought that a simpler, more obvious design would better communicate what the brand stands for. In this project, I have rebranded Unpackaged to make it more appealing to a wider demographic group including young professionals and students.

LOGO DESIGN

Changing the logo to a simple, continuous and uniform shape symbolises the natural food cycle, which would nourish both our planet and its inhabitants without the wasteful complications of packaging. Though we all know that sustainability is important, a lot of us decide not to change anything from our daily lives in order to support it: change often seems like a chore. I wanted to challenge the common preconception that choosing sustainability over zero-packaging causes complications or inconveniences in our daily routines. Using After Effects, I created a motion graphic image to communicate that just like letting our planet thrive should be a straightforward matter, so is the service that supports its nourishment. Sustainability does not have to be boring and inconvenient. It is not just for politicians, advertisers, hippies, activists and geographers. It is for everyone who can change one thing in their routine to make it make more SENSE. I wanted to deliver the message that UNPACKAGED makes making a difference very simple.
